Table of Contents
Introduction
The goal of this guide is not to give you the definitive Best in Slot list of gear for season 2, but rather to give you an overview of relevant loots and where to get them. We do not the ability to pick a definitive gear set optimal everywhere. The gear you use will be a result of what you loot, what talent you use and what content you’re tackling. The more options you have, the better you can tailor your character.
Remember to always sim new items to see if they are an upgrade, see this post to know how Elemental sims.
This guide will not include trinkets, as they have their own guide.
General note:
- 441 is the base Mythic item level, which is also the maximum ilvl for upgraded mythic+ items.
- 444 are Rashok and the Dracthyr Experiments items.
- 447 are Zskarn and Magmorax items, as well as vault mythic+ 20s and crafted items.
- 450 are Neltharion and Sarkareth exclusive items.
Embellishments
Embellishments Items
There are 3 embellishments effect that stand out for Elemental Shamans during Season 2:
- The Horizon Strider set requires two embellishments: Wind Spirit’s Lasso and Scale Rein Grips. It is our most versatile choice offering high value in both Single Target and AoE. It can’t be combined with other embellishments. It also “restrains” the tier sets options that we can get. Despite these minor setbacks, it is still excellent. It also improves gameplay by giving us haste. It is also worth noting that this is the Best in Slot of Enhancement as well.
- Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards has around 35% uptime and gives good value in all content, but is slightly more oriented toward Single Target.
- Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch is a better choice for Single Target and stacks with itself, so you can use it twice on your gear if you want to focus entirely on pure Single Target niche.
Other options:
- Elemental Lariat is still a decent choice despite the recent nerfs, but performs overall worse than the one listed above. Since 10.1, the effect duration depends on the number of Elemental Gems you are using. Elemental Lariat becomes a reasonable consideration if you have 5 or more Elemental Gems in your gear.
- Acidic Hailstone Treads is the best single target Embellishment, but getting slowed by 10% at all time is just horrible. I wouldn’t recommend it under any circumstances, but the option is there. Be sure to know what you are doing.
- Toxified Armor Patch further enhances Acidic Hailstone Treads, but losing 10% additional movement speed. This is
- Undulating Sporecloak is the defensive embellishments that you should use in hard content. It is almost mandatory in higher key levels and is very recommended during Raid Progress.
Possible Combinations
Versatile Cleave/AoE: Horizon Stride Set
This is a versatile combinations, slightly oriented toward Cleave and AoE. This is my personal recommendation as Haste feels good to play.
Versatile Single Target: Dracothyst Armguards and Shadowflame Patch
This is a versatile combinations, slightly oriented toward Single Target.
Safe Single Target: Double Shadowflame Patch
This is the “safest” Single target combination.
Pushing and progress: Undulating Sporecloak and a second choice
Undulating Sporecloak is a life-saver on many pulls and hard keys. This should be your safest combo in hard content. It can almost any other embellishments with similar results.

- Elemental Lariat is very good if you have 8 sockets,
- Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch is slightly ST oriented,
- Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards is slightly AoE oriented,
- Acidic Hailstone Treads is overall more damage but costs 10% speed which can be costly in pushing/progress.
Dangerous Single Target
You will be permanently slowed by 20% when using this set but this is the best ST damage possible. Be ready to face the consequences.
The BiS Table
I will be real with you for a minute, a BiS item list does not exist. A list of items that are perfect for each and every situation is not realistic in modern World of Warcraft.

The Onyx Annulet
The Onyx Annulet is roughly equivalent to a 418 crafted ring in Single Target and pretty bad all around in AoE.
Its primary use will be as catch-up gear on a new character, or as a somewhat decent option going into Aberrus.

How to sim your best offensive stones option :
- Take your ST or AoE talent and gear depending on what you want to sim.
- Get your simc in-game.
- Go to Raidbots > Advanced and paste your simc.
- Paste the content of this pastebin after your simc string.
- Remember to set fight length and target count.
- Profit.
Notes:
- The pastebin will have the Onyx Amulet enchanted to Haste by default.
- If you don’t have premium Raidbots, it will tell you that it is too many iterations. In that case, just cut the pastebin in two and do two sims.
- Don’t use dungeon-slice, it’s not implemented for Elemental. See this post to know how Elemental sims.
